Meet Dr. Trung Nguyen

Trung Nguyen, DDS, MS

When patients fully understand their current periodontal conditions, what the causes are, how we can mitigate problems, and feel motivated to improve their oral health, this is the recipe for the best treatment outcome. Before attending dental school, I volunteered in the Bay Area to teach seminars on oral health, diabetes, and hypertension. From this, I learned the importance of patient education and bring that knowledge to ensure that my patients feel empowered and like an equal partner in their dental treatment.

I strive to treat others the way my parents raised me: with respect, dignity, and compassion. I take the time to listen to my patients, understand their needs, and provide dental care that is the best for them. No patient is ever the same, nor should their treatment approach be. My approach is to tailor treatment to meet your needs and collaboratively decide the best course of care.

Education

I earned my bachelor's degree in human biology at the University of California, San Diego in 2009. Prior to pursuing a career in dentistry, I worked as an Emergency Medical Technician before moving back to the Bay Area, where I completed my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) in 2020. After dental school, I earned my master's degree in Orofacial Sciences and certificate in Periodontics and Implantology at UCSF in 2023. During my residency, I served as the chief resident and have published in the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry, Biology, and Clinical Advances in Periodontics.

In the Community

As a Bay Area native and having spent the last 7 years in San Francisco, I look forward to becoming an active member of the Marin County dental community and the Marin County community at large. I am very excited to be a part of Dr. Ana Amaya's team to serve our patients and local dentists.

Outside the Office

In my free time, I love the great outdoors that my home state of California has to offer. I have hiked and backpacked many trails in Northern California; Yosemite and Trinity Alps are among my favorite places. When not under the sun, I also love running, fitness, traveling, and spending time with my family and closest friends.
