Most patients experience very little discomfort, if any, following laser surgery.  With laser surgery no sutures are needed and very little bleeding occurs.  However, if you experience any discomfort, medication such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen work well.

Please do not brush the treated area for a few days following the procedure.  If you have been given some ointment to use, begin applying the ointment the day after surgery approximately four to five times a day for the first seven to ten days.  Warm salt water rinses are also helpful.

The tissue in the surgery area will appear dark in color for several days but will return to its natural color within two weeks.
